They are included on an 1878 plat map of Guilford Township. Today all that remains of the settlement is a black cemetery on the west side of County Road 825 West, one half mile north of State Road 47. When groups of African Americans made attempts to settle in Hancock County warnings were posted, barns burned and livestock killed (Thornbrough, p 222-223).
